About

Troy Wymer is a Fire and EMS Service Professional based in Indianapolis, IN. He has spent the last thirty years working in public safety, and he doesn’t regret a moment of it. Tory is dedicated to servant leadership, compassion, and community support. Troy holds a full-time role in Indianapolis, Indiana, where he serves as a Chief Officer in the fire department and fulfills the responsibilities of an Emergency Manager within the City/County government.

Over the years, Troy Wymer has held several positions in Operations and Administrative Capacities. While much of his experience has been focused on emergency preparedness and planning, Tory did make a point of rounding his skills whenever possible. Some of his specialties include fire and emergency response, specialized rescue, and instruction.

Troy Wymer began working for the Wayne Township Fire Department in 2005. This role calls for him to be a professional fire officer within an urban environment. Throughout his fifteen-plus years on the force, Tory has worked on the Hazardous Material Response Team, handled Administrative roles, and even held the title of Appointed Captain for a few years (2007-2009). In short, he has worked hard throughout nearly every level of the fire department, showcasing his knowledge inside and out. In addition to the more physically demanding responsibilities, Troy has had several unique job opportunities in the department. For example, he authored several guidelines, including “Guideline for Responding to Incidents of Violence and Civil Unrest 2017 Standard Operating Guideline Release.”

Currently, Troy Wymer acts as the Division Chief for the Wayne Township Fire Department. His responsibilities include fire prevention, fire investigations, and public information. Once again, Troy finds himself handling many roles within a single title, and he wouldn’t have it any other way.

In addition to the above role, Troy Wymer works at BCFS Health and Human Services Incident Management Team, Reservist. He’s been working with the team since 2018. He has taken on many titles, including Reservist Member of the Federal Contract Incident Management Team, Planning Section Chief, Deputy Planning Section Chief, and Division Supervisor. This has prompted Troy to respond to several emergency situations, including Hurricane Laura (Texas, 2020).

Before taking on his current roles, Troy Wymer worked alongside several other teams and held many other positions. His previous roles include Planning Team Manager (FEMA Urban Search & Rescue), Lieutenant (Brownsburg Fire Territory), and Emergency Medical Technician (Wishard Memorial Hospital EMS).

Before chasing after his public service dreams, Troy Wymer made a point of completing his schooling. He attended Perry Meridian High School. Following this, Troy earned a degree in Broadcasting and Communications from Vincennes University. Finally, Troy attended Ivy Tech College in 2023, where he studied Fire Service Management and Homeland Security.

All of Troy Wymer’s hard work and dedication have not gone unnoticed. Over the years, he has won several awards, including the Medal of Bravery and Medal of Merit. He was also labeled the State of Indiana Rescue of the Year and helped earn several unit acknowledgments.
